Q. How to search using keywords?
The search page of www.indiapicture.com will return the images that contain the keyword in the search criteria. Enter a keyword in the search box and click the Go button.  The results of your search will depend on the keyword that you enter. Words entered into the search box are not case-sensitive.

For example, keyword bus will return images related to  bus and business. Use the advanced search link for exact search, combined search and other enhanced search options.

Q.How does the IndiaPicture search system match the keywords I enter to images in the IndiaPicture collections?
A. Keyword searching matches the text that you type into the keyword field with the search terms in the IndiaPicture thesaurus that is attached to every image.

Q. What should I do if my search didn’t find any images?
A. There can be a variety of reasons why your search failed to find images.
The most common reasons are spelling errors and typos. Check and correct the spelling of the keywords first and try the search again.

• It could also be that too many keywords were entered. Try entering fewer keywords and running the search again.
• Or, if the term you entered is not in the IndiaPicture thesaurus, you can retry your search with related terms.

Q. Should I enter my keywords in the singular or the plural form?
A. For most keywords, you can enter them in either the singular (example: mountain) or plural form (example: mountains). For irregular plural forms (example: woman and women), you can enter either form.

Q. What verb form should I use to entry my keywords?
A. If the keyword you want to enter is a verb, it should always be entered in the gerund form (example: enter “boys jumping," rather than “boys jump”).

Q. Is the search system case sensitive?
A. No, it doesn’t matter if you use capital letters, lower-case letters, or any combination of upper-and lower-case letters.

Q.How are the results displayed?
The first page of results will display all images that match your keyword or category. Clicking on a thumbnail will take you to further details about an image.
